Parent Information for the Week of February 14-18

This week we will be continuing our CRCT review learning centers. All groups are focused on specific content standards. For detailed information on each group, please click on the link to last week's post on the right side of this page. Other things happening:

  • After school program begins this week on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:00-5:45.
  • Reading across the curriculum documentation is due on February 28. All students are expected to have read 1800 pages by this day. Please encourage reading at home.
  • Agenda should be signed each Thursday night and checked every night. If your child's agenda is blank, then they are not following directions in class! Each student knows this expectation.
SRA is still going very well! We are working on spelling, and have a test each Friday. Many students are not studying for this test. Also, even though our main focus is reading and comprehension, we still do daily grammar practice each day, and I give grammar review homework each night. Many of my 1st Flex group students are struggling with these concepts. Please help your child with his/her homework. If you need extra assistance, please feel free to contact me at school.

Homework this week will focus on the types of pronouns. Students are expected to be able to identify pronouns in sentences, identify the types of pronouns, and write with pronoun/antecedent agreement. They will be practicing this all week, and will have a quiz on Friday.

Students should continue to study clauses, conjunctions, and types of sentences; there will be review questions on the quiz.

IMPORTANT!! Each student has access to Study Island, a web-based CRCT practice resource. Most students should have their username and passwords to get in. I just recently have assigned a test for students to complete on this site under my name. I will continue to add practice quizzes. I hope your child will take advantage of this at home if you have access to internet. If you need your child's username and password, shoot me an email or give me a call at the school, and I will be happy to give it to you. I can also give it to your child at school.

Thanks so much! Have a great week. One more week of hard work, and I'll let your child stay home for a whole week! :) Contact me if you need anything. shelley.worley@gscs.org or 770-229-3760
