Classwork:

This week we are starting new CRCT practice centers. These centers will give your child much needed practice in several different areas. Here is a quick look at what we are working on:

Reading Centers: exploring figurative language and sound devices, using reference materials, Study Island reading practice, homophones, affixes

Writing Center: identifying and using main ideas, topic sentences, supporting details, transitional words, and concluding sentences

Conventions Centers: sentence structure, predicate words, plurals, possessives, types and use of pronouns

I want to encourage you to allow your children to use the internet at home to complete practice tests and lessons on http://www.studyisland.com/. This is an excellent tool for CRCT review. As you have read, I have assigned Study Island for homework, but I know there are some students who do not have internet access in their homes. The students will have opportunity to complete those assignments on Thursday when we go to the computer lab. We are also doing daily CRCT review on Study Island as a class.
