This week, on Monday and Tuesday we will be finishing up our previous learning centers. On Wednesday, we will beginning a new set of centers that focuses on specific standards that need reviewing. CRCT is coming so fast, and it is my hope that your student takes their work seriously. All of the centers have been designed with CRCT preparation in mind.

Here is a quick look at what the students will be working on in their new centers. Please ask your child which group they are in and discuss their activities with them.

Reading Focus Group 1: This group will be reading a short fiction story, and analyzing it in the form of a poster, mobile, flipbook/booklet, song, rap, or poem.

Reading Focus Group 2: This group will be reading 3 pieces of poetry. They will be developing an original piece of poetry with very specific guidelines.

Writing Focus Group 1: This group with be working on the Mimio board in class to analyze four paragraphs. They will be focusing on  main ideas, details, transitions, etc.

Writing Focus Group 2: This group will be working on the netbooks in class to revise and edit an essay. They will working on www.sync.in/expository1 or www.sync.in/persuasive1 .

Conventions Group 1: This group will be working with comic strips to learn how to write and punctuate dialogue correctly.

Conventions Group 2: This group will be working with a series of sentences to analyze sentence types.

SRA: We continue to work daily on fluency and comprehension. Each Friday we have a spelling test. Please help your child study.

Grades for this week - 2nd and 3rd Flex:
- daily participation in centers
- homework
- DGP and sponges
- notebook quiz  on Friday

Grades for this week- SRA:
- daily participation in reading aloud
- homework
- Friday spelling, grammar, and comprehension test
- point chart (earned daily during lessons)
