What's Happening?

Hi everyone!  Our class has been working on a research project. We have begun reading the novel Bud, Not Buddy, which is set during the Great Depression. All of the topics the students are researching are in some way related to that time period.

This week, a few of the students will be continuing work on that project. However, there are many of the students who need to go back and practice previously covered concepts to make sure that mastery of the standards is taking place. The students have been placed in a group based on their performance on the benchmark test, the writing prompt, classwork, homework, weekly quizzes, and informal observation. I have taken all things into consideration while placing them in groups. I will also be pulling students out of their groups to conference with them one on one about their performance in my class.

I have noticed a decline in the amount of homework and classwork being turned in. Although I try very hard to call parents when work is not being turned in, it is nearly impossible to call each time. If I notice a pattern, I will do my best to notify parents. Please check your child's agenda each night and have a conversation with them about what they did in each class, and what homework they need to complete.

Thanks so much for your help. Please feel free to email me if needed!
